Happy 70th Birthday to my Mum. Although by the time tomorrow comes, mum won't remember celebrating today. She doesn't know what day, week or year is it, but she is sooo happy living in the present moment and we are too. Grateful for her calm gracious form and all the good days like today and so so grateful to her for making me who I am today. Giving me a strong work ethic, being the primary bread winner at home, making me learn how to drive, putting me through university, getting me started in life. Although caring for a mum with dementia has taken its toll on my health, in many ways it has made me stronger and very resilient. We had a lovely afternoon together @glencarteashed today. And boy can she get down on her hunkers as fast as any yun wan can! Go on nana! #alzheimersawareness #makingmemoriestogether #newyearscelebration

Can't believe I am celebrating my 40th🎂. I used to think 40 was old but now I feel my best years are just upon me. The hardest bit is done. 😉I feel 20. I hope I still look 30 😜 but defo have had the traumas, life experience and wisdom of a 40 year old🙏. I would never go back to my 20s or 30s (even for younger skin and two eyes that matched😂) (well maybe occasionally for the festivals, parties and the travelling😎) for there was too many difficult times, too many unknowns, too many paths to choose in college, too many decisions re work, too hectic of a personal life (I moved house 18 times), too much pressure in a high flying ✈ corporate career, too many places to go, too many people. The simple stability of my life now being married, having kids, putting down roots in Sligo, owning my own home, persuing my dream business, enjoying the balance of being a devoted present mum with working part time. Being in total control of my life, being financially free, choosing to do and be with who I want, when I want and live authentically is empowering to say the least. And being old enough and bold enough to do it my way and not care about what anyone thinks. So for all the gals out there who fear turning 40, don't, it will be your best decade yet. And for those in their 20s - believe in yourself and your dreams, work really hard, you will get there. Here's my bita glitz for the festive nights celebrations 🎉. The joy to have a night off, time to do my makeup. I have finally found a lip colour that "I really love" @maccosmetics "Runway Hit"💋 A birthday treat (finding what suits you takes years of trying different looks on and figuring it out💄(I will help you with this ladies. Stay tuned for my weekly video tutorials in the new year). 🌃A night out with the squad in the big smoke, a big spread of tapas, some table service in a swish bar, a chic hotel to kip in and after this week is over 40 days off work to look forward to. After working nearly every day for the last month with weddings and clients, the salon will be closed for essential maintenance for all of us until Feb 12th. #timetopause #mindfulmama #workhardplayhard #newyearnewyou
